Thoracic Spine Pain & Sciatica Resolved: George’s Physiotherapy Story

Thoracic Spine Pain & Sciatica Resolved:
George's Physiotherapy Story

Smiling man in black beanie and sportswear at physiotherapy clinic.
George, a client training four to five times a week in London, resolved thoracic spine pain and sciatica that was preventing him from performing key gym movements like squats and deadlifts, through a structured treatment and aftercare programme at One Body LDN that also gave him the knowledge to prevent the issue recurring.

The Problem

George came to One Body LDN with significant pain in his thoracic spine, along with sciatica, which was directly hindering his regular training. Training four to five times a week, he found the pain increasingly prevented him from performing major compound movements such as squats and deadlifts. Before seeking professional help, he had been trying to self-diagnose the issue, describing the process as "guessing and often going backwards rather than forwards."

Why He Chose One Body LDN

George had previously tried another physiotherapist, but found the experience "very quick and aggressive," with no real aftercare or guidance on what to do next. At One Body LDN, he found the opposite: "Kurt was able to take the guesswork out of it," and the ongoing support made the difference between simply receiving treatment and actually understanding his condition.

The Assessment & Diagnosis

Our expert therapists Kurt Johnson and Rebecca Bossick assessed George's thoracic spine and identified the underlying cause of his sciatica, moving him away from the trial-and-error self-management that had been holding back his progress. Their assessment focused on pinpointing the actual source of his pain rather than treating symptoms in isolation.

The Treatment Plan

The Result

George returned to training squats and deadlifts without the pain and sciatica that had previously held him back. Beyond symptom relief, he gained lasting understanding of his condition:

"I understood what had gone wrong, what I needed to do and how to prevent the issue from happening again... that has been a big game changer for me."

Watch George's Story

Initially, I had a lot of pain in my thoracic spine, as well as pain and issues with sciatica. That was the main reason I came in.

It was hindering a lot of my training. I like to go to the gym four or five times a week, and it was starting to prevent me from doing big movements such as squats and deadlifts.

Before coming here, I was always trying to work out what the issue was myself. I was guessing and often going backwards rather than forwards. Kurt was able to take the guesswork out of it.

When you are trying to train regularly but cannot perform to your full potential, it can be quite depressing and frustrating. The treatment really helped me.

Kurt and Rebecca were both very attentive after the sessions. It was not simply a case of coming in for treatment and then leaving. There was a strong aftercare package, including check-ins, exercises and stretches to complete at home, which really helped. I had tried another physiotherapist before, but the experience felt very quick and aggressive. There was no real aftercare or support. The session finished, but l came away without knowing what to do next.

This experience was much more educational. I understood what had gone wrong, what I needed to do and how to prevent the issue from happening again. I loved the service and would definitely recommend it to anyone, as I have done before. Everyone was very friendly and approachable.

I am much happier now. My training has improved, things are running much more smoothly and I am more knowledgeable about what went wrong and how to prevent it. That has been a big game changer for me.
