I recently started working with Magenta and I couldn't be happier with my progress so far. Magenta is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and caring. She took the time to thoroughly assess my condition and tailored her treatment plan to my specific needs (lower back pain). Her positive attitude and encouragement made the sessions enjoyable, even when the exercises were challenging. Thanks to Magenta, I have seen a significant improvement in my mobility and overall well-being. I highly recommend Magenta to anyone in need of physiotherapy services.

I have been very impressed with the therapy I’ve received by Magenta. She has helped with many of my pregnancy issues including lower back, neck and hip pain. She has a wealth of knowledge and is constantly up-skilling herself to ensure she has the most up to date practises. For me, she has used a combination of massage and giving me exercises to do at home. Not only that, but she has a wonderful disposition and is always happy to chat and see how I’m getting on. She has been there throughout my second and third trimester and I couldn’t be more grateful!

Highly recommend Magenta/Danielle! Incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and all-around lovely people. They gave me very helpful advice/support for strength and flexibility training, including deep tissue massages and acupuncture during the sessions. Without them, I would not have been able to recover from my IT band injury before my ultramarathon this summer.

I was on a week's business trip to London and had severe recurrence of slip disc induced sciatic pain in my left leg. In order to prep for the long return trip back to India the next day, I went for 1 session to One body LDN. Mridul, the physio, did a great job in understanding my problem, the pain areas and providing a deep tissue massage that helped me manage my pain during the return flight. Thanks Mridul and One body LDN!

Appendix: Key Terms and Concepts for Achilles tendon rupture

A ruptured Achilles tendon is a serious injury that requires immediate medical attention. Symptoms of a ruptured Achilles tendon include swelling in the calf, difficulty walking or putting weight on the affected leg, and bruising on the lower leg. It is important to start treatment as soon as possible to prevent further damage and complications. If you suspect a ruptured Achilles tendon, it is best to see a doctor urgently or go to the nearest urgent treatment center.

Achilles tendon injuries can be debilitating and cause significant pain and disability. They commonly occur in individuals who are only active intermittently, such as “weekend warrior” athletes. Proper treatment is essential for healing, and most torn Achilles tendon injuries take about four to six months to heal with the right care. It is important to seek medical attention and follow recommended treatment protocols to ensure a successful recovery.

Risk factors: There are several risk factors associated with Achilles tendon rupture. These include participating in activities that involve jumping or sudden forceful movements, such as sports. Certain medications, such as fluoroquinolone antibiotics, and steroid injections can also increase the risk of re-rupture. Age is another factor, with the condition being more common in individuals between the ages of 30-40. It is important to be aware of these risk factors and take precautions to prevent injury to the Achilles tendon.

A physical examination is crucial in diagnosing an Achilles tendon rupture. During the physical exam, the doctor may palpate the area and look for a gap above the heel, unless there is swelling present. One common test performed is the Simmonds’ test, also known as the Thompson test. The results of this examination, along with imaging tests such as ultrasound or MRI, can confirm the diagnosis of an Achilles tendon rupture. Treatment options, whether operative or nonoperative, can then be determined based on these findings.

Functional bracing is a commonly used treatment for Achilles tendon rupture. This approach involves resting the affected area, elevating it, and using a brace to support and stabilize the tendon. Functional bracing has been shown to yield similar results to surgical intervention, but without the potential complications associated with surgery. While there is still some debate regarding the benefits and risks of surgical intervention, functional bracing is often the preferred method of treatment.

An acute Achilles tendon rupture refers to a sudden and severe tear in the Achilles tendon, which connects the calf muscles to the heel bone. This type of injury often occurs during activities that involve jumping or sudden changes in direction.

Strongest tendon: The achilles tendon tears is the strongest and largest tendon in the human body. It connects the calf muscles to the heel bone and plays a crucial role in allowing us to walk, run, and jump. However, this thick band of tissue is also prone to rupture, which can be a painful and debilitating injury. Understanding the strength and importance of the Achilles tendon can help us appreciate its function and take steps to prevent injuries.

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential complication that can occur after an Achilles tendon rupture. It is a condition where blood clots form in the deep veins, usually in the legs. To reduce the risk of developing DVT, doctors may prescribe medications or recommend certain preventive measures, especially if the leg is immobile during non-surgical treatment. However, surgical treatment may also carry its own risks, including the possibility of DVT. Therefore, it is essential to weigh the benefits and risks of each treatment option carefully.

Flexor hallucis longus tendon transfer is a surgical option for repairing chronic Achilles tendon ruptures. This procedure involves evaluating the presence or absence of Achilles tendon stumps and the gap length of the rupture. The flexor hallucis longus tendon is then transferred to repair the damaged Achilles tendon. This technique is one of several surgical options available and can help restore function and stability to the affected area.

Specific exercises are an important part of the rehabilitation process for Achilles tendon rupture. These exercises typically focus on improving mobility and strength in the calf and ankle.

Back of your ankle: A torn Achilles tendon is a serious injury that can cause severe pain and limit your ability to walk properly. The main symptom of a acute ruptures is feeling (and sometimes hearing) a pop or snap at the back of your ankle.

An ultrasound scan is a diagnostic tool that can help confirm or clarify the diagnosis of an Achilles tendon rupture. While a physical examination can often provide enough information, there may be cases where an ultrasound scan is necessary to determine the exact site and severity of the rupture.

crutches: After an Achilles tendon rupture, it is important to avoid putting weight on the affected leg. This means that crutches will be necessary to move around. The use of crutches allows for mobility while protecting the healing tendon.

Inflammation: Achilles tendon rupture is a common injury that occurs when the tendon connecting the calf muscles to the heel bone is torn. This injury often results from excessive strain or trauma to the tendon, leading to inflammation and severe pain.

Rheumatoid arthritis: Achilles tendon rupture can be caused by various factors, including certain health conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic disease that may be associated with Achilles tendon injuries. Other risk factors for Achilles tendon rupture include chronic renal failure, collagen deficiency, diabetes mellitus, gout, and thyroid disorders. It is important to note that the sudden and severe pain in the back of the leg is one of the common symptoms of an Achilles tendon rupture.

A ruptured Achilles tendon is a severe injury that occurs when the strong, fibrous tissue connecting the calf muscles to the heel bone tears or completely snaps. This injury often results from sudden, forceful movements such as jumping or pivoting, and is most commonly seen in athletes who participate in sports that require quick bursts of movement. The symptoms of a ruptured Achilles tendon can include a popping or snapping sound at the time of injury, immediate pain and swelling in the back of the leg, difficulty walking or standing on tiptoe, and a noticeable gap or indentation above the heel where the tendon has torn. Prompt medical attention is essential for a ruptured Achilles tendon, as treatment options may include non-surgical methods such as immobilization and physical therapy, or surgical intervention to repair or reattach the torn tendon. Rehabilitation following treatment is crucial for restoring strength and function to the leg and preventing future injuries.

An Achilles tendon rupture is a complete or partial tear of the Achilles tendon, which is the large tendon that connects the calf muscles to the heel bone. It can be caused by sudden, forceful movements or overuse, and typically requires medical treatment such as surgery or immobilization.
